AKTIVITAS ANTIFUNGI EKSTRAK ETANOL 96% DAUN PEPAYA (Carica papaya L.), UMBI BAWANG PUTIH (Allium sativum L.), SERTA KOMBINASINYA TERHADAP Candida albicans

One of the natural ingredients that can be used as an alternative antifungal treatment is papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) and garlic bulbs (Allium sativum L.). The purpose of this study was to determine the antifungal activity of a combination of ethanol extract 96% of papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) garlic bulbs (Allium sativum L.) on the growth of Candida albicans fungi. Papaya leaves and garlic bulbs were extracted by maceration using 96% ethanol. The extract obtained was subjected to phytochemical tests and the determination of antifungal activity by the well method with concentration 15%, 20% and 25%. The phytochemical compounds contained in papaya leaves are tannins, alkaloids, saponins and flavonoids. Meanwhile, the garlic bulbs contains phytochemical compounds of flavonoids, alkaloids, and saponins. The diameter of the inhibition zone of the ethanol extract of papaya leaves and garlic buls was the highest at a concentration of 25% with a value of 13,38 mm (strong category) and 12,16 mm (strong category). The best antifungal activity against Candida albicans was in the combination of the ethanol extract of papaya leaves: garlic bulbs (2:1) with a value of 13,23 mm (strong category). Therefore, the ethanol extract of papaya leaves and garlic bulbs has potential antifungal against Candida albicans.
